Fourth of July in Bridgeport, CT

It's that great time of year again in Bridgeport! Summer is in full swing, the grill is hot, spirits are high, and the 4th of July is just around the corner. There is no shortage of activities in the area this weekend. Whether you're attending a block party blow-out, or just barbecuing with the family, July 4th is always a great day for fun. There is no better way to celebrate the birth of a nation than enjoying the outdoors, relaxing with friends and neighbors, and sharing in the spirit of the community.

Start things off on Saturday at Calf Pasture Beach Park in Norwalk, with live entertainment, kid-friendly activities, and you guessed it... fireworks! Head down to Jennings or Penfield Beach in Fairfield for a magnificent fireworks display on Sunday night, with the Atwood Oldies Band performing at Jennings, and 'In Harmony' will take the stage at Penfield Beach. Be sure to save some energy for Monday because the party isn't over. Head on down to Barnum's Birthday Bash on July 5th for ongoing activities, entertainment, and refreshments from noon to 3pm. This event is free to all Bridgeport residents.

Enjoy a safe & happy Fourth of July in Bridgeport, CT!

Living in Fairfield, CT - The Best that Connecticut Has to Offer

Did you know that Fairfield, CT was ranked the Best Town in Connecticut by Connecticut Magazine in 2009?

When determining this sought after top spot, Connecticut Magazine took into account education, economy, cost of living, crime, leisure and culture. Fairfield, CT more than excelled, receiving a score of 1 (on a scale of 17) in education, a 2 for crime and economy and a 4 for leisure.

Greenwich used to be the reigning champ of the Best Town spot until Fairfield, CT snagged the top spot. This was in large part on the account of Fairfield's highly regarded education system. Their Mastery Test scores, CAPT scores and numbers of high school grads continuing their education in college put them over the edge.

Of the 169 towns in Connecticut, Fairfield, CT ranked number one. Furthermore, in 2006, Money Magazine ranked Fairfield the ninth "Best Place to Live" in the United State. As you can imagine, this makes the town a very sought after place to live.

The Riverwalk Condominiums offer the perfect location for those looking for the benefits of Fairfield living. The gated community is only less than two miles from the new Metro North Train Station in Fairfield, but also is convenient to Bridgeport and Long Island Sound. If you are looking for Condos in Bridgeport boarding Fairfeld, CT, don't hesitate to contact me at 203-540-5127. It truly is a one-of-a-kind town and a great place to live. Downtown Bridgeport is the Place to Be

If you are not from the Connecticut area, you may not realize how amenity and culturally rich Downtown Bridgeport, CT is. From fine dining and regional theater to sporting events and concerts, it is a pretty fantastic place that more and more people are discovering every year.

The number of entertainment arenas, museums and restaurants are diverse and vast. There are too many to mention in this Riverwalk Blog, but here is a quick menu of things to do and places to go in Bridgeport to get you started.

The Arena at Harbor Yard
600 Main Street, Bridgeport
Bridgport's state-of-the-art entertainment complex that hosts world famous musicians, entertainment spectators, professional sports, special events, trade shows, conventions and more.
Upcoming Event: Walking the Dinosaurs - June 15th and 16th

The Barnum Museum
820 Main Street, Bridgeport
The one and only P.T. Barnum, creator of the "Greatest Show on Earth" was, believe it or not, once the mayor of Bridgeport. To house his treasure trove of artifacts and information is the unforgettable Barnum Museum, a structure that is a blend of Romanesque and Moorish architecture. This museum is a must see. Where else can you find the clothing and carriage that belonged to the original General Tom Thumb? (also a Bridgeport resident)
Hours: Tuesday through Saturday 10 am-4:30 pm; Sundays 12 pm - 4:30 pm.

Ralph n Rich's
814 Main Street, Bridgeport
It is difficult to choose one Bridgeport restaurant, when there are so many amazing options, but Ralph n Rich's is a sure bet. Zagat survey rated as one of America's Top Italian Restaurants and chosen by Connecticut's Attorneys and law firms as "The Best After Work Pub," Ralph 'n' Rich's is one popular place to be. It serves up a surreal, dream-like interior, a friendly staff, good wine and wonderful cuisine.

If the excitement of Bridgeport is something you love, but you're not sure if you want to live in the heart of the city, consider the Riverwalk Condominiums. Hop on the train and you're downtown in minutes, then come home at the end of the day to classic and peaceful living in a Riverwalk Condominium. Just give me a call and I would be happy to provide you with more information.

Fairfield Declares June Arts Month

You may or may not realize, but Fairfield, Connecticut places high importance on art - artwork, art museums and art organizations. It is a large part of the community's culture and to emphasize the impact it has had on the Fairfield Community, First Selectman Flatto and the Town have officially declared June to be "Fairfield Arts Month."

To help you get in the spirit of things, here are just a few ways that Fairfield embraces art. It really is all around us here in Fairfield...

The Fairfield Museum and History Center
Seven years in the making, this state of the art museum only recently opened in 2007 after years and years of dedication and hard work from the Fairfield Historical Society. Three gallery spaces, a special collection library and reading room, a family education center and an 80 seat theater now have come together to create this not-for-profit educational facility. If you are looking for a visually enticing art show, check out "Images," the Second Annual Fairfield Museum Photography Exhibition. It ends June 6th so it's the perfect activity to do this weekend before it is gone.

Fairfield Arts Council
If you're looking to get involved in the community more, and have a passion for art, then the Fairfield Arts Council may be just what you have been looking for. Their mission is to "Advocate for cultural organizations and artists, provide arts related information, sponsor art exhibits, and provide a visitor center."
Meeting Place: 70 Sanford Street, Fairfield, CT 06824
Meeting Days: 10:00 - 4:00 Tuesdays - Friday, 1:00 - 4:00 Saturday
Website: www.fairfieldartscouncil.org

Fairfield University Quick Center for the Arts
When you live only a short distance from three culturally rich universities, it is easy to find art all around. The art collections at Fairfield University are plentiful. From the Lukacs Gallery filled with exhibitions by studio art students to the breathtaking Japanese Garden at Bellarmine Hall, complete with bridges, pools of water, and contemporary garden artwork. Sacred Heart University boasts the Gallery of Contemporary Art as well as a variety of performing art programs.

If you are new to town, or are just thinking about coming in to take a look around at some Fairfield Real Estate, the summer is a great time to do it. Nearby Bridgeport also has some fantastic real estate. Both towns are brimming with culture, but are also easily accessible to the new Metro North Train Station, making them the ideal locations for commuting.

Please don't hesitate to contact me. I would love to show you around.
